Comment Love Giveaway
The winners have been chosen, and the comments for this post are now closed! Thanks to all who participated. Scroll down to see if you’re a winner.
Design team member Peace Schuyler made these pretty ornaments a while back, and I’ve been saving them for the holiday season. Peace says, “I made these with images from Little White Things, and no paper except the substrate.” She used bits of broken earrings, beads, ribbon, lace, and buttons to make these lovely confections.
Now, don’t these deserve a little comment love? Of course they do—and I’m prepared to bribe you to supply it:
Leave a comment on this post, telling Peace why you like these ornaments, and you’ll be entered in a drawing for a free six-month subscription to The Monthly Muse (or a six month renewal if you’re already a subscriber). One comment per person, please.
And who knows—if the comments are particularly lovely, or abundant, or crack me up, I might throw in another subscription or two, just for fun
Deadline for comment entries is December 4th. I’ll post winner(s) on December 5th.

The winner of the drawing in the Comment Love Giveaway for a six-month subscription to the Monthly Muse is:

“how beautiful . Brings back memories of playing with Mom’s button tin. She saved buttons from everything. There were pieces of lace in there too occasionally. (I am blessseed to have inherited it and the grandkids love playing with them as much as I did.) what a treasure.”
Cheri, I moved when I was eleven, and somehow, the button box from the sewing room never made it to the new house. It was just a box that I’d covered with wrapping paper, and it held buttons from all the clothes we’d given to Goodwill—because my mom always cut the buttons of them before they went into the bag. For the rest of her life, mom would periodically look at me and say, “I wonder what happened to that button box.” Thanks for the memory.

“Peace, it’s as if you crawled inside my brain to see what would make me say, “Eeeeyah, those are gorgeous!” I REALLY like all the rich trim, very lush.”
Oh, Trisha, if you only knew how appropriate a comment about crawling inside your brain is when it comes to Peace. She has a wickedly creepy sense of humor…

“Got a tutorial for cloning myself? I need one. I just downloaded one of the best ever issues of Monthly Muse and was ready to start one of those super projects — and now I want to dig out my lace and fripperies and try to make one of these exquisite ornaments. They’d look so pretty as doorknob hangers or hung from the knobs on a chest — but why keep them just for Christmas? They’re perfect for other seasons too. As always, you and your designers have come up with ideas we can all use. Thanks so much!”
Martha Rose, “got a tutorial for cloning myself?” made me snort iced tea out my nose. Thanks for making me laugh.

These are so lovely. They practically cry to be hung on a Victorian Christmas tree but are beautiful enough to be displayed all year long. What a gorgeous way to create with your stash of treasures!
Peace, these ornaments are exquisite! They remind me of something that would have been found in my grannie’s dome topped trunk, gently wrapped in tissue paper and tucked away to be treasured at a later time. Thank you for the inspiration!!!
These ornaments are so elegant and pretty! Love the use of bits and pieces of lace to make them and then including the Little white things and adding bits of color. Very pretty and original.
Peace, your ornaments are truly lovely. I especially like the cream ornament and love that you have found such a beautiful use for leftover bits and pieces of lace and other trims, odd buttons and broken jewelry. You are a “green” inspiration and make me want to try my hand at something similar.
Wow! Those are so very beautiful! Amazing! I esp. love the all cream/white one. I would display them all year round. They are just too darn pretty to box up and put away after the holidays.
Stunning creations, Peace. I swear I found these when we cleaned out my grandmother’s home except hers were yellowed with age. I’m picturing them hanging on a background of toile wallpaper. So feminine, so vintage, so lovely!
Peace – what wonderfully vintage-y ornaments – very pretty!
How do I love these? There are so many ways. As festive holiday ornaments, and then later on perhaps as arm candy on New Year’s Eve, and then as cleavage modesty panels in the springtime, and then as a special decoration for a wedding gift, or even worked into the bouquet, to be treasured by the lucky catcher of the bouquet, and recycled on into eternity., These are wonderful, Peace.
You don’t need to bribe me for a comment, I just needed to see them. They are absolutely gorgeous, I adore them.
Peace, I don’t like the ornaments … I LOVE THEM! I would hang them all together on a wall where everyone could see them 365 days of the year. You manage to make the white look even crisper with the little dashes of color, and the cream is also just as clean. Every little detail adds something, and the end result is lush without being overdone. It really is masterful art. And I love your name, too!
Peace, these are truly sweet. They would be so pretty as fronts to little Victorian bags. Thanks for sharing them. Sally
These are truly lovely, Peace! They would make lovely gifts for a new bride, especially if some of the pretty bits were from her bouquet or even from her dress!
Peace, it’s as if you crawled inside my brain to see what would make me
say, “Eeeeyah, those are gorgeous!” I REALLY like all the rich trim, very
lush.
These are absolutely gorgeous. Especially the first one. These reflect perfectly your name…Peace. Thank you for sharing these lovelies.
I agree, they’re wonderful to hang all year ’round and I really see these involved in a wedding somehow – centerpieces or display on a gift or cake table. They’d be a treasured heirloom for sure!
They’re gorgeous. They remind me of extremely embellished crazy quilts and make me want to get all my goodies out and glue them to stuff! Nice job, Peace.
Peace your ornaments are beautiful! I love little things to hang by the doors for luck and these are perfect for that. I can tell they were made with love because I can see it in every piece of lace, every little embellishment. Absolutely wonderful, thank you so much for sharing them.
I do love these ornaments, Peace. Especially the first one. It has such a lovely vintage feel to it. Wouldn’t they look beautiful in a vintage styled bathroom or bedroom. Love all the doo-dads too.
I love the fact that they’re made with little odds’n'ends that might otherwise go to waste, yet they’re put together in such a way as to make something of such magnificent beauty. Thanks, Peace, for sharing your immense talent with us lesser mortals!
Peace, your ornaments are amazing! I love the combination of paper art and romantic bits. A beautiful blend. Wish I was on your Christmas list.
These really call out to me. Emotion wells inside. They must be truly beautiful!
They are so lovely! It’s hard to pick one reason to love them.
These are so charming. I love seeing things that are Victorian with lace, buttons and rosettes. I like things like this to hang on my walls in groups of threes, all year round, not just for Christmas.
So pretty, Peace! I really love the whole ‘joy from junk’ creativity. And you do it so well!
What a lovely set of “girly-girl” ornaments. The fact that you made them from scraps and such makes them all the more appealing to me, because that’s the sort of art I love to create myself.
Bits and bobs! Wonderful! Peace, you’re truly an artiste!
Totally awesome, Peace. So pretty and feminine. Thanks for sharing.
My sister just showed me these gorgeous ornaments, and I just had to leave a comment, too. These are just the sort of thing I’d love to put on my Victorian-themed Christmas tree! You’ve given me some real inspiration, Peace! I think I’m going to try to make my own ornaments in a similar style — and I know I have a whole bunch of pieces of broken jewelry and scraps of lace that I can use. Thank you so very much.
Peace, these would be perfect for package toppers for very special gifts. I’m thinking something very feminine or something for your BFF, or for a favorite sister. I would totally put any one of these on a package for my baby sister, because she’s really into Victorian stuff. Now I’m just gonna have to go digging around in my stash to get little pieces of trim and beads and all, and make something like this to put on her xmas present! Then she’ll have two presents in one, ‘cos she’ll have a pretty little ornie as well as her gift!
I just have to give a big warm thank you to all you sweet and loving commenters, it’s nice to hear from you! GOOD LUCK!! :OD Peace
How absolutely stunning! These give me an idea for a garland for my mantelpiece! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful idea!
These give me an idea for favors for a bridal shower party. I think I’m going to make something like this for each of the guests. Thanks so much for sharing. You’re a real inspiration, Peace!
I’ve shared this page with a bunch of my friends — what a delightful group of ornies! We all agree that creatively speaking this concept opens up a whole realm of possibilities. Tags, gift adornments, Christmas tree ornaments, wedding decor — the possibilities are endless. And all from scraps? It doesn’t get any better than that! Huge thank-yous for sharing your lovely artwork!
Peace, your ornaments are stunning. I like the fact that they are hand made with oodles of elements, lace and most of all love sewn into each one.
Wow! Your ornaments are just gorgeous! So elegant, feminine, and very victorian looking. I love them!
I LOVE the ornaments. They are so feminine and look very vintage. What a great way to use leftover bits and pieces and old or broken jewelry. They would be great hanging around all year.
These are so beautiful! I really love the white-on-white effect–it adds a lot to the vintage feel. Makes me want to run to my art room and drag out all my vintage lace and play a little bit!
Absolutely GORGEOUS!! They would make a beautiful keepsake gift. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful creativity.
I can’t begin to tell you how happy these make me! So pretty, so dainty! Danke!

Brava! Peace, you’ve outdone yourself with these amazing pieces of art! Thank you for sharing these adorable things! What a day-brightener for me!
These are just adorable, Peace!
In sorting through my Mother’s things after she died I wondered what to do with all the bits and pieces in her jewelry box. All the old broken faux pearls, one of a kind earings, broken clasps, and items she would never toss because of sentimentality. Thanks for the ideas.
I wish I had your talent, Peace. I hope you don’t mind too much that I’m going to copy your idea and make some Christmas ornaments for my mom’s tree. You’re such an inspiration!

These are so beautiful, Peace – bravo! I think they’d look gorgeous displayed all year round wherever they hang!
These are absolutly yummy! I simply love the lace. Thanks for sharing your time and talents.
Peace these ornaments are so lovely, and romantic, and takes me back to a simpler time. These are way too incredible to be used only as Christmas ornaments!
What I like best about these ornaments is that you’ve made something so very beautiful out of things that might otherwise have gone in the dust bin. Very creative, very lovely and very thrifty! Thanks for sharing them with us!
I could see something like this being made out of leftover trim from a wedding or christening gown. They look like someone’s heirlooms.
These are lovely and very feminine. I love that they are dripping with beautiful lace and trims! I’d hang one in my bedroom!
Confection is a perfect word for these fabulous ornaments! They look good enough to eat!
Ooohhhh, these are so Victorian. Love the over-the-top femininity.
so beautiful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! perfect ornament !
These are just stunning pieces of art! They are inspiration for an Altered Vintage Hankie RR that I am participating in – thanks Peace!
My comment will not be abundant, lovely or funny because I have no talent for words. But, these creations are just beautiful and are just me. Although I love paper, I also adorn my creations with laces, ribbons, fibers, buttons, flowers, bows, beads and old (vintage) jewelry. So you see why I love the above ornaments. They are sugar and spice and everything nice!
I Love those white romance art!
I love your work of art, I am inspired by looking at them. I can feel little tickles at my fingers saying “Hey, you must go make something like that”!
I work a lot with lace and sewing so I know how much love you put in those to make them so pretty.
Thanks for the game
I love your sites

These lacy beauties are especially poignant because they remind me of my dear friend Gina Wise, who made similar items using buttons, lace, her own hand crocheted flowers, and old jewelry. Gina died last Friday, and I find these a comfort, knowing there are others out there making similar items. Sorry, nothing funny with regard to this comment, but felt it had to be said!
They are so beautiful! I love the abundance of lace and frothy things and wish I could make things look like this. Keep it up, please.
Actually I love the whole site and have purchased a number of things from Lisa and her gang of designers. They never fail to come up with something different.
WOW was my 1st reaction
then ditto to everything already said
we just moved, and this would be a lovely addition to our now home
thanks so much
Oh, MAN! I am SO going to need to move into a bigger house!
AS IF I didn’t ALREADY save all the little bits and dibs and dabs of lace and lacy thingamjigs, NOW I can see the reason to save old, single earrings, and even snap them up at the Goodwill Thrift Store, besides expecting a crazed artist attacking me and biting off one of my ears… or maybe dating Mike Tyson (I guess there ARE historical precedents for needing just one earring)
Anyhow, these are way cool, though honestly, I’d hate to have to dust them…
These are gorgeous Peace! Love winter whites, vintage and textiles. This is the best of all worlds!
Love all the lace & vintageness! My favorite is the white & pink one- it would make a lovely wedding gift!
Oh so darn pretty, all that wonderful clean white ‘stuff’… Always so classy looking anything with lace and white, is ALL girly and soft and a feast for the eyes… Charming, wonderful and WHITE HOT!!!
I love the Victorian “drippiness” of these hangings. Lots of my favorites–buttons, laces, and ribbons, oh my! Great work. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Beautiful creations. Well deserving of the title “Confections” Quaint victorian trims with many little vintage doo-dads attached reminds me of the parlor in my grandmothers house where everything was overstuffed and covered in lovely hand made lace.
These gorgeous, sweet and elegant ornaments would make fabulous heirlooms for my daughters.
I am inspired to “bead” them to the punch, “lace” up my sneakers and head out to a craft store to pick up some pretty “rib-ons” to create the frames and hangers and “button-up” Christmas for my daughters!
The best part of these dazzling handmade ornaments (or door hangers at college, or wedding favors, or gift tags, or bathroom decor, or picture frames…) have redeemed my eclectic collection of random lovely things that my husband struggles to wrap his mind around!! (Not to mention the overwhelmed closets, drawers, shelves, boxes…all holding lovely “Precies” that I keep for future projects! Thanks for sharing!
My mouth is watering at the gorgeousness of these fripperies, What beauty, what a delight! I so wish i could do something like this.
Thank you so much for showing us. xx
Thank you for sharing these beautiful, victorian inspired creations – they would be displayed year round.
Wow. You always inspire me for some new fun project. These are beautiful.
Thanks.
Peace – what a perfect name for the creator of these beautiful ornaments! I love all the lace and flowers and jewelry. Don’t know about those little tiny waists, though….sigh.
Got a tutorial for cloning myself? I need one. I just downloaded one of the best ever issues of Monthly Muse and was ready to start one of those super projects — and now I want to dig out my lace and fripperies and try to make one of these exquisite ornaments. How lovely!!! Looks so victorian. It gives me an idea of what to do with a lot of lace pieces I have saved in a box. I need to get them out, look for a pretty picture and make some ornaments to share with my friends.
Thanks for the idea.
These would look lovely on my old fashioned Victorian tree. I would also love them as an adornment in my half bath for a little frill. Maybe use them to decorate a hand towel that’s wrapped up with a satin bow.
These pieces remind me of spending time with my grandmother, learning how to sew. Watching her
create with bits and pieces. And the buttons, I learned to sort by buttons. Thank you for sharing these creative pieces and on this cold, crisp winter day with the same sorts of colors.
These are beautiful! I especially love the top one, it reminds me of my late granny – she was great in all handyworks, knitting, crochet, needle-point, you name it, she knew how to make beautiful work with it. After she passed away in 2005 I inherited several of her craft supplies amongst which a whole bunch of ‘starter pieces’ of lace-like crochet like used on that top one. I keep them in a small wooden box and go through them every once in a while and can just see her work on them in my memories. Maybe I could snag a couple of them and create something beautiful as these hangers with them, and hang them in my room as a memory of my grams!
So beautiful! They remind me of afternoons sitting with my grandma on her quilted bedspread and going though her jewelry box and hanky drawer. I just had to take a moment and sit with my eyes closed. I swear I could smell her “Evening in Paris” perfume. Thanks so very much.
Such beautiful, frothy ornaments! Very creative!
The one on the top combines all the things I love: lace, buttons, roses and a dainty victorian lady… A perfect beauty.
Ah, absolutely stunning Peace!! Lovely design, composition and workmanship. I adore lace but have never used it to such beautiful effect as you did! These lovely pieces of artwork are just SO luxurious….truely eye candy!!
Delicate, soft and feminine…………..a bit victorian……..just beautiful………
These are just gorgeous!! Love them so much. I have yet to use lace in my art, as I am afraid to “ruin it”…must be the same “more” (unspoken taboo) as to not deface a book!! When will I ever stop being a “hoarder” and use the stuff that I have??? I sure would like to win the 6 month Monthly Muse to fill me with “art fodder” to enable me to use my stash in very creative ways. Hugs, Rockin Robin C.
These are such lovely pieces…there’s an elegance and old worldliness to them that’s simply stunning!
I love these ornaments – they certainly are delicious pieces of convectionery. I always find myself inspired when I visit this site – my mojo has been missing for some time now but after being here for a while and poking around in all the interesting corners I think I can feel it starting to return!! I would love a subscription to the Monthly Muse – it is just what I need to get back on track.
So dainty and feminine and oh so pretty I just love them…I am a Nanna and I have some wonderful pieces of lace from my own Nanna and pretty fabric and ribbons from my Mother left to me. After all these years I now know just how to use those pieces and I will have something to see everyday reminding me of them and their love and beauty.
I WANT THESE!
These were worth viewing without the bribe.
I love these. sooooo gorgeous. If I had these I would make a gift of them to my mom.
Wow, these are absolutely gorgeous! I love all of the lace and the beautiful images. I would love to have a tree adored with them. Thanks for sharing.
They are seriously pretty! How can you say something funny about such nicey niceness? Except… maybe you could raise a schoolgirl snigger by thinking of random silly things that the victorian models could be saying to each other with speech bubbles and/or maybe you could give them some wacky hats a la Claudine Hellmuth? But then they wouldn’t be ‘nice’, they’d be silly!
I love the delicate charm of these ornaments. Each is a lovely piece of artwork. I love all of the details especially the lace.
These are oh-so pretty! I simply love lace. Beautiful work!
These are gorgeous. I love the Victorian era.
Wow, how inspirational. What a beautiful project.
oh my! I adore these – how completely sweet! I save all sorts of broken necklaces, orphaned earrings and absolutely love combining mismatched items to form something new and lovely. Peace Schuyler did a fabulous job.
I think these ornaments pull me back in memories of my mother in law and grandmother. They had these odd bits from all their sewing and embellishing garments. They did it with love for the person was intended for. It puts a lump in my throat. Although my personal style is not the lace and silk pieces, these are careful, loving arrangements. I especially love they are not “grunged” up and look fresh and crisp. I would love to have one of these in a small shadow box on the wall so I remember to work with love for the intended recipient.
Lovely and elegant!
wow! I have 3 lonely little white doilies that have been languishing in a drawer–this gives me some inspiration for what to do with them! Lovely pieces!
What beautiful things. Very feminine and inspirational.
Will have to get out my broken necklaces and bits of lace and have a go myself.
I am not a very girlie girl but I love these dainty, feminine ornaments. They remind me of things from my grandmothers era and I love them
Oh I may be too late but they are just soo pretty, I love the vintage lace, shabby chic look, it makes me feel so girly!!!
